For 40 years, Don grew Catalina Cycles, a successful motorcycle business in Deep Ellum, until his retirement at the age of 75. Bonnie flourished as a full-time stay-at-home mom and ultimate caregiver to their two daughters, Vicki and Lori, and grandchildren, Brittni and Tyler. They even had the blessing of spending a lot of time with their two great-grandchildren, Bella and Liam. Don and Bonnie found any excuse to bring the family together with dinners, birthdays, holidays and even made up celebrations. Bonnie was involved in numerous groups and clubs, and had more friends than anyone could keep up with. Don had a passion for being outdoors – you could always find him working away on his hands and knees in the yard. For 63 years it was apparent how much they loved and cared for each other. For the vast majority of their marriage, Bonnie took care of Don, being the caregiver she was. Towards the end, the roles reversed when Bonnie’s health began drastically declining from osteoarthritis. Don waited on her hand and foot, when she no longer could care for herself, and never left her side. Their presence in all our lives has been a tremendous blessing. Both Don and Bonnie helped mould us into the tight-knit family that we are, today. Their presence in our daily lives will be terribly missed, but we have faith in the Lord’s greater plan, and an endless number of memories full of love and laughter to get us through this time. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 AT 11:00 AM at Eastridge Park Christian Church 2701 N Town East Blvd, Mesquite Texas 75150. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Foundation at arthritis.org
