Donald Leroy Borson's Obituary
Donald Leroy Borson died on July 22, 2021 in Miami, Florida. He was born on August 28, 1936 in Minneota, Minnesota. Mr. Borson graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. Don worked in the technology sector throughout his career including Collins Radio Group, Rockwell International, and Nortel. In addition, he was an early pioneer in software and created several small software startups from education to sports to travel.
Don has many interests. As a young man, he enjoyed learning to sail while living in Maryland. He enjoyed building and creating including televisions, home additions, and his prized possession, an electronic organ. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed attending sporting events, particularly the University of Texas football games while his children were in school. Post-retirement, he took to the road in his motorhome and enjoyed traveling across the US.
Don was married for 39 years to his sweetheart Aura Frances Borson who proceeded him in death in 2002. Fran and Don enjoyed raising a family and exploring the world together. He was fortunate to reconnect with his high school friend Carol Cameron with whom he spent the last 18 years of his life.
Don is survived by his three loving children, Renee Brida (Jim Gallegos) of Federal Way, Washington, Barbara Hulit of Seattle, and Bob Borson (Michelle Borson) of Dallas in addition to his 6 wonderful grandchildren Phillip Brida, Annie Brida, Julia Brida, Charlie Brida, Eddie Hulit and Kate Borson. His legacy lives on through his great-grandson Harrison Brida. He will be missed by his brothers Dick and David Borson.
The funeral and burial will be held on Friday, August 6th at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
