Donald Ray Burden Sr.'s Obituary
Donald Ray Burden, Sr, A True Texas Gentleman and Leader passed away
April 22, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. Don was born on June 14, 1939 in
Prairie Grove, Arkansas, He graduated from Sunset High School in
1957, attended Tarleton State University and the University of Texas
at Arlington where he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical
Engineering. He formed his own company, Don Burden & Associates, Inc
in 1973. He had a reputation for being fair and honest. His word was
his bond and Don commanded the respect of his peers and employees
alike.
He had a love of all things outdoors. He played baseball and
football, loved water skiing,snow skiing, tennis and golf. He was an
avid hunter and fisherman and loved to travel. He was generous and
never turned down a request for help. He held his wide circle of
friends and family close to his heart. His absence will be felt by
everyone who knew him.
Don is preceded in death by his father, Owen Burden, Sr.; his mother,
Margaret Cundiff Burden; and his twin brothers, Owen Burden, Jr. and
Leslie Burden. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Patton Burden; his
children and their spouses, Donald Ray Burden, Jr. and Kristy Burden;
Jill and Jeff Carter; his stepdaughters and their spouses, Drs. Julia
and Rick Mooney; Joanna and Vicente Cuellar; His Four Grandchildren
and their spouses, Joshua and Amber Reames; Lauren and Austin
Peoples; Donald Ray Burden, III and his fiance Jayden; and Lili
Carter; and finally his two great grandchildren, Aubrey Peoples and
Donald Ray Burden, IV.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Restland’s Wildwood
Chapel. Due to Covid-19 this will be a private service. A
Celebration of Life Memorial will take place at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SunsetFoundation.org and
Visiting Angels of McKinney, Texas.
