Donald Reed DeWees' Obituary
DeWees, Donald Reed 80, Born August 29, 1939 in Dallas, TX, went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2020 in Plano, TX.
Donald served in the Army Reserves from 1960 — 1965 with 1 year of active duty during that time. He worked with the Dallas Police Department as a patrolman and helicopter pilot. He retired as a Captain with the Dallas Fire Department. He had a combined 30 years of service (1963-1993) for the City of Dallas.
His hobbies included deep sea fishing, building a race car and traveling to watch his Brittany Field Trial dogs work. He was an active member and volunteer at Ferris Heights Methodist Church, Waxahachie, TX.
Donald is preceded in death by his father, Archie DeWees, his mother, Opal DeWees & brother, Richard DeWees. He is survived by his brother Jerry DeWees, Dallas, TX; his sister, Janice DeWees Byrd and husband Larry, Dupo, Illinois and Violet Anders (aunt), Plano, TX. He also had numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family will receive friends on Tuesday May 5, 2020 from 3:00pm — 5:00pm, at Restland Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be officiated by Rev. Bayard Pratt on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM at Restland Memorial Park.
