Donald Edwin King's Obituary
Don King of Dallas, TX, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed peacefully in his sleep at his home July 9, 2017, with his wife of 60 years, Gina, by his side. Born in St. Louis, MO, King moved to Dallas at the age of six, where he was educated in the Highland Park school district, graduating from Highland Park High School in 1945. He studied journalism for two years at the University of Missouri before earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business from SMU. In 1951, Uncle Sam beckoned, and King served two years in the Army in Korea and Japan where he reported from the battlegrounds of the Korean War for the Stars and Stripes. A lifelong member of the Texas Society of CPAs, King served as president and co-owner of Pecora Corporation, headquartered in Harleysville, PA with a facility in Garland, TX. For more than 20 years, he commuted between Dallas and Philadelphia before retiring in 2001. He then volunteered twice a week as an ambassador at the DFW International Airport, when not traveling internationally with his wife. Along with his wife, King is survived by his son Don Jr., daughter Kathy, and granddaughter Blake King. He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Racheal and his brother Jimmy.
