Donald Kenneth Eisan's Obituary
Donald Eisan was born on Oct. 11, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY. He married Penny MacNeil on Jan. 14, 1951. They were married for 68 years. They lived in Franklin Square, NY where their 3 children were born. The family of 5 moved to Dallas in 1968 where they lived on Snow White Drive for 50 years.Don worked for Republic Financial Insurance Group where he started in the accounting department. With the birth of computers, Don pioneered the installation of computer operations at the company. He made a major contribution to computerizing programs company wide. After he retired in 1987, he continued as a contract programmer. He was known for writing code into his programs to self-destruct if not paid.When he was not working, Don enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, photography, traveling, and model railroading. He was an avid model railroader and had his 2-car garage built into a spectacular model railroad. He built everything: the foundation, electric wiring, buildings, people, scenery, and track. He had several towns, bridges, tunnels, mountains, waterfalls, and unique nature scenes.His layout was featured in Model Railroading magazine and was one of the featured stops at the Model Railroading conventions. He had numerous operating sessions with his fellow model railroaders. His railroad was enjoyed by many including his grandchildren & great grandchildren.He and his wife traveled extensively during his retirement; they went on more than 50 cruises. They cruised to the Caribbean, Alaska, South Pacific, New Zealand, England, Italy, Greece, Egypt and more. Dad enjoyed the English countryside the best. One of Dad’s hobbies was photography and he loved taking pictures of his trips. He has extensive photos of all the places they traveled. One of the things Dad installed in his children was his love of travel and taking sunset pictures.Survivors include: wife, Penny Eisan. Children: Lynda Brown and husband Michael, Wendy Smith and husband Scott, Kevin Eisan and wife Gen. Grandchildren: Ryan Brown, Cheryl Smith, Austin Eisan, and Daniel Eisan. Great Grandchildren: Layla, Molly and Emily Brown, Grayson, Riley and Harper Smith.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Wildwood Chapel at 10:00 AM.In lieu of flowers family requests donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
