Donald Wayne Hearn's Obituary
Donald Wayne Hearn, 86, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on January 11, 2021, in Mesquite, Texas. He was born on November 19, 1934, to John Wesley Hearn and Veta Alline Berry in Sarepta, Louisiana. He married Sue Johnson on May 19, 1954, in Sarepta, Louisiana. He graduated from Sarepta High School in 1953 and joined the US Army in 1954 He served with the Nike Ajax (Surface to Air Missiles Project). After leaving the army he attended Louisiana State University. He graduated in 1961 and went to work for the Social Security Administration. Donald completed his career with the Federal Government in Dallas, Texas as the Associate Regional Director of Medicaid. After retiring he worked as a consultant for Medical Advocacy Services for Healthcare that helped people with their medical needs. It was his passion to help others less fortunate. Donald was a faithful follower of Christ and an active member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church. He was an avid reader and LSU Tigers fan. He loved traveling the world with his sweetheart of 66 years. His kids, grandkids, and great grandkids will remember him as an eternal optimist, silly song writer, and man of wisdom. Donald is survived by his daughters, Donna Lamb (Husband: Scott), Lisa Hartless, Cheryl Hopper (Husband: Ty); son, Phillip Hearn; sister, Sandra Hanson; grandchildren, Crystal Kolendo (Husband: Keenan), Candi Hartless, Dillon Lamb (Wife: Ellyn), Zach Hearn, Abigail Hearn, Tyler Hopper, and Hayley Hopper; great grandchildren, Kaden Kolendo, Cami Kolendo, and Carson Kolendo. He is preceded in death by siblings, Eugene Hearne, John Hearne, Jr., Elizabeth Thomas, Ouida Hearn, Peggy Lee, and his twin Dot Brown. A private funeral is scheduled at Restland Funeral Home Saturday, January 23rd. The family requests that donations be made to Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church Benevolence Fund (9810 La Prada, Dallas, Texas 75228) or a charity of your choice.
