Donald Ray Hill's Obituary
Donald Ray Hill, a resident of Richardson, Texas was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 8, 1947, to the late Thelma Miles Hill and Isadore Hill, Jr.
In 1970, Donald graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked as an engineer at Philip Morris in Richmond, Virginia, an engineer at TWA in Kansas City, Missouri, a computer analyst at Texas Instruments in Dallas, and a computer programmer for American Airlines from where he retired in 2007 from the Sabre Group of American Airlines.
In 1970, Donald married Cheryl Brown. They were married for fifty-three years and have a wonderful son Brian Anthony Hill and are blessed with a beautiful grandson Devin Xavier Hill. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
He was a committed provider for his family. Donald coached his son's baseball and soccer teams for many years. He loved sports, especially the New Orleans Saints.
On October 13, 2023, Donald suffered a serious heart attack, which required him to be in ICU for twenty days, two stays at two different rehabilitation centers and dialysis three days a week. The strain of his diminishing physical condition eventually led to his passing. The void created by his passing will be filled with precious memories now.
Donald leaves to cherish those memories his wife Cheryl, son Brian, grandson Devin; sisters Rita Arterberry, Frisco, Texas; Patricia Hives (Tommy), Baton Rouge, LA; Yvonne Jackson (Rogers), Baton Rouge, LA; brother-in-law Reverend Dr. Lance Brown (Reverend Dr. Patricia Turner-Brown), Baton Rouge, LA; devoted cousin Allen Ray Bernard (Pat), Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Isadore Hill, Jr. and Thelma Hill; paternal grandparents Isadore Hill, Sr. and Alberta Hill (Dallas); maternal grandparents Sam Miles and Nora Miles (Louisiana); niece Tiffany Jackson (Louisiana); devoted cousin Barry Miles; and cherished brother-in-law Lee Arterberry.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 1 PM at The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. Service will begin promptly at 2 PM following the visitation.
