Donald Lee Huff's Obituary
Donald Lee Huff, of Wills Point, TX, passed away on December 10, 2025.
Don was born on October 26, 1949, in Dallas, TX to John Huff and Theresa Rockers Huff. Don grew up in Dallas, attending Holy Cross for grade school and Bishop Dunne for high school. Don then moved to Austin, where he attended the University of Texas, graduating with a BA in Psychology in 1973. After college, Don moved to Hawaii where he lived for a few years, fully embracing the hippie lifestyle. Later, before choosing a career, he spent time in the Bay Area working for a moving company and enjoying the California way of life. In 1985, he completed the Physician Assistant Program at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas. In 1989, Don began his career at the Dallas VA Medical Center, where he worked for nearly 28 years before retiring in 2017.
While working at the VA Hospital, Don met Jana. They married in 1996 and went on to have a daughter, Kaylee, in 1999. Becoming a father gave Don a renewed sense of joy and purpose in life. Although their marriage eventually ended in divorce, Don and Jana remained close friends and continued to share a deep love and respect for one another.
Following retirement, Don moved to Lake Tawakoni, where he enjoyed swimming, fishing, and everything else the outdoors has to offer. Don will be remembered not only as a respected Physician Assistant but also as a loving father and a loyal friend. He was a free spirit with a love of adventure, a great sense of humor, and a kind heart.
Don is survived by his daughter, Kaylee Huff; his ex-wife, Jana Scoville; his sister, Linda Johanson (Craig); his brother, David Huff (Janie); multiple nieces and nephews; extended family; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Earl Huff.
A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 29, at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, followed by a service at 2 p.m. and interment at 3 p.m.
