Donald Robert Johnson's Obituary
Donald Robert Johnson went home to be with his Lord and Savior January 19th, 2007. Survived by Ruth Ella, his wife of 56 years, children Jann Hunter (and Allen), Didi Henderson (and John), and Scott. Also survived by brother, Paul, grandchildren, Stephen, Emily, Elissa, Jay (and Carroll), and Nate (and Laura), and numerous nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. Don was born Nov. 30, 1923 in Chicago, IL, and was raised in Aurora, where his father pastored St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He served with the Army in the S. Pacific during WWII. Don earned his BA from Wheaton College (IL) in 1948, MA from Univ. of Nebraska, and PhD from the Univ. of Penn. Wharton School. Dr. Johnson was on the Univ. of Miami faculty for 33 years as Professor of Finance and Insurance. Three times he recieved the University’s Outstanding Professor Award, culminating in 1979 when the school created and rewarded him the Distinguished Professor award. In 1985, he was named Wheaton College Alumnus of the Year for Distinguished Service to Society. Before moving to Texas, Don was a member of Granada Pres. Church.
