Reverend Leonard performed the wedding ceremony for my parents, Bryce and Dena Allred on August 12, 1949 in Portland, Oregon. While I was growing up in Portland, I saw his beautiful church many times, more than I can count, and my parents always proudly let me know that that was the church where they got married. Apparently his officiating cemented strong bonds. My parents' marriage lasted until their passing - my father in 1997, my mother in 2012, with lives filled with love, fun, and caring. They are interred together at Willamette National Cemetery.

I only had the privilege of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Leonard once during the opening of the Marcom building back in '95 I think. They were friendly, warm people. In the years since, I felt like Don Sr. became a close friend. A couple of times a week, sometimes more sometimes less, my e-mail inbox had a message from Don071740@aol.com. They were cute, silly, or inspirational messages, but they always came with a message attached letting me know that I had a friend out there who was thinking of and praying for me. It was comforting to me and always made me smile. I will miss you Don071740@aol.com.

2/11/10 PM Well, All I can say is that the powers that 'be' want to keep Dallas as it is and not let anyone come to the city. As much as we tried, Dallas is snowed under for probably the next couple of days. Tha means my 'toast' to your long and prosperous life will be done by eating this evening, at least a couple of packs of Austin Peanut Butter crackers in your honor. Love, Casey

Dr. Leonard provided strength and guidence to me many times throughout my career at PVN from beginning to end. He even peformed the marriage ceromony for Peggy and myself. I will always be greatful he was in my life. When I think of him it will be with happiness and not sorrow.

My deepest sympathy, Ann and Don. He will be missed by many. I remember getting emails with some very interesting things, events or 'believe it or not' pictures. I will especially miss his Christmas letter. Even if I didn't send any out, I always looked forward to receiving his. One of my fond memories was many years ago when I traveled to Dallas for business. He picked me up in his big, clean buick and we toured the city. We chatted about football, family and his work with the PVN Foundation. I could tell he was very dedicated to it. We ended our Sunday visit (of course) with a nice BBQ dinner at one of his favorite restaurants. It was a great day to spend with family. All my love, Casey

When I first met Don, he was editor of the Bugle and I volunteered to "help" with the typing…I was the only typist and he scared me to death…my typing and computer skills werent' that terrific and I thought he knew everything (and he did) I knocked myself out trying to do everything he wanted…one time he asked for a certain heading and I worked for two days and just couldn't do it…I wasn't that smart…I finally said, "Don, I can't do that" and he said, "Well, okay"…Over the years he became one of my best friends…I miss him..of

I'll always remember Don as a caring friend and resident here at PVN. He had a good since of humor and used the computer to share anything humorous that he came across. He realy did embrace the computer and he took time to make it useful to other residents. On his own, he prepared helpful list such as: As a list of names and telephone extensions of all PVN staff members, a list of all the men at PVN and that occupation, a list of all the email addresses for those residents that had email. The preparation of this last list, he has passed along to me. Don was very sharp and shrewd. He not only was responsible for the PVN Foundation being formed, he was responsible for it being managed by the residents of PVN. We're ll indebted to him for all he's done Raymond Burklin
