Although I had only known Don "slightly" from earlier years, he recruited me to work with him on establishing the Sanger Trophy in the Old Red Dallas County Courthouse with artifacts from the original "six" Dallas Independent School district participants. Don was the tireless force that had the trophy restored and got the County to reserve a place for its permanent display and he was certainly due 99% of the credit for this achievement. He also was a driving force in the Wounded Warriors housing program and is deserving of much of the credit for the success of that program. I am sorry to see him pass as he had become a good friend.
