Donald Mitchell McDonald's Obituary
Our loving family announces the passing of their devoted father, grandfather and husband, Donald Mitchell McDonald on June 9, 2011. Donald was born in Denton, Texas on March 15, 1928 to Tom and Irene McDonald. He grew up in Waco, Texas and graduated from Waco High School in 1946. Following graduation, he joined the US Navy with aspirations to become a pilot and attended Baylor University to complete his basic studies. After his Honorable Discharge from the US Navy, Donald attended Texas Tech where he studied engineering to prepare him for his career as a structural steel detailer. On May 6, 1949, Donald married Geraldine Threadgill of Waco. Thereafter, they were blessed with two lovely daughters, Kim and Lisa. Ultimately, the family moved to Dallas where Donald was owner/partner of Lohrengel & McDonald Engineering Company for many years. He is survived by wife of 62 years, Geraldine, daughter, Kim Shaddock and her husband, Bill; daughter, Lisa Kelley and her husband, Rick; grandchildren, William, Andrew and Caroline Shaddock, Kevin and Jeremy Haney and Jennifer Spencer along with one great-grandchild. Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, 5801 Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at 1:00pm.
