Donald Clark Watson's Obituary
Donald Clark Watson, who celebrated 96 years on this Earth, passed away on August 14, 2020 in Grapevine, Texas. He was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio on March 3, 1924 to the parentage of John and Eleanor (Clark) Watson.
Donald Watson "Pop" will be missed for his stories of growing up on a farm, playing college football at Ohio and meeting and falling for his beloved Ellen. He was a competitor - at sales in his career, playing tennis at Brookhaven Country Club and the Senior Olympics (which he has the medals to prove)! Don enjoyed traveling the world after retirement with his wife, Ellen, until her passing in 1996. Pop continued to travel around the US for Senior Olympics, his annual trip to his hometown of St. Clairsville, OH., to Pennsylvania to visit his oldest son and family and to Houston to visit with great grandchildren. He was a long time member of Walnut Hill United Methodist Church where he volunteered. Don was well known for his years of service to AARP in Carrollton, TX, spearheading the Senior Tax Return Service. Pop was always early and he left our presence much too early.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, M. Ellen Watson.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Kerns of Keller, TX; son, Tom Watson and wife Brenda of Greensburg, PA; son, Jim Watson and wife, Carolyn of Plano, TX; 5 grandchildren and 3 1/2 great grandchildren.
“In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Walnut Hill Church at: c/o Patti Martin, Treasurer, Walnut Hill Church, 10066 Marsh Lane, Dallas, TX 75229 or choose their safe & secure online give portal on the church website.”
