Donald Lee Willis' Obituary
Donald Lee Willis, 74, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on August 29, 2024, after a long and
courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was a beloved husband, brother, stepfather and
grandfather.
Don is a veteran of the Army who served his country courageously in the Vietnam War.
Soon after, he began his career in the automobile business. Don was a dedicated and hardworking
man with a long and successful business, earning a reputation for his honesty and work ethic.
Beyond the professional achievements, he had a passion for boats and water skiing and introduced
boating to his family and grandkids. As the years passed, he became an avid golfer. He enjoyed
bringing his grandkids to play golf at El Dorado Country Club with his wife Sherry, where they made
dear, lifelong friends. He not only played a part in teaching the grandchildren how to play, but also
instilled in them an appreciation for the game that to this day. Lastly, but certainly not least, Don
loved to watch and attend car races. He shared memorable times with close friends and family
going to the races.
Don is preceded in death by his father, Nelson E. Willis, mother, Frances Louise Holleman Willis, brother, Nelson Willis and sister, Lynda Sue Wilson.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Willis, his stepchildren, Don Garner and his wife Tracey,
Michelle Garner Carter and Christy Garner. His grandchildren, Jessica Garner-Sherrill and her
husband Josh Sherrill, Benjamin Garner and his wife Julia, Luke Garner, Rachel Garner, Sam Garner, Lawson Garner and Emma Garner, and his nine great-grandchildren. His brother-in-law, Arlen Wilson and his many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy for honesty, generosity and love for his family will live on.
