Donna Lee Schirato's Obituary
Donna L. Schirato passed away on July 12, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 24, 1947 in Dallas, Texas, to Charlie and Dorothy Patterson. Donna graduated from Bryan Adams High School and attended North Texas State (now the University of North Texas). She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents, Clayton and Lydia (Granny) Pierce. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dennis A. Schirato, son Michael Schirato and wife, Stacy, son Matthew Schirato and wife, Jennifer, 5 grandchildren, Alex, Ella, Jack, Charlie, and Ryan, who affectionately called her Grandma and Blondie. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Patterson, sister Dorsha and husband, Barry Stone, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Donna was a beautiful lady who will be remembered for the way she loved people by always putting others first. She was generous, and had a heart of compassion. She made everyone feel special and accepted. Donna was devoted to her family and friends. Christmas was her most favorite time of the year. She loved shopping for her grandchildren who were the delight of her life. How thankful and grateful to God we are for the years we had with her. She was a special person who left a wake of blessing behind her wherever she would go. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 in the memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Donna may do so by making donations to Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church, P.O. Box 444, Grand Saline, Texas 75140, Attn: Father Victor Hernandez. Pallbearers for the service are: Scott Breeding, Ryan Foust, Caleb Malone, Scott Mitchell, Mark A. Schirato and Ryan Schirato. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Blackwell and Matthew Blackwell.
