Donna Jean Slover's Obituary
SLOVER, DONNA JEAN-November 14, 1926-April 20, 2022
The family of Donna Slover mourn the loss of our beloved “Minemo.” She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. We are grieving her passing, but we are comforted by the fact that she will be reunited in heaven with our father, Bud Slover, that also went home to be with the Lord in 2004. Bud and Donna were sweethearts from the time they were both in middle school. They married in 1946 in Dallas at their beloved First Baptist Church, now known as First Baptist Dallas. She was baptized at FBC at the age of 10, and was a member of the church for 85 years. Donna was, and will forever be a Christian of strong faith who loved the Lord, her family, and her church. God was always at the center of her life, and the love she gave to all of her family reflected that. That love and sincere affection from the bottom of her heart she afforded us is of course something we will all miss with each passing day. She was born in Joplin, Mo, November 14, 1926. Within a few months of her birth, her family moved to Dallas where she remained a lifelong resident of for the rest of her life. So, her identity was that of a proud Dallasite, and Texan. She attended Dallas schools growing up, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1944. Her passion she dedicated herself to with all of her heart throughout her adult life was her tireless devotion as an involved, caring, loving wife, mother, and grandparent. Professionally, she also played a significant role in helping her husband manage the bookkeeping, and day-to-day operations of the family business, Precision Instrument Co., of Dallas. She also had countless friends she cherished over her lifetime, including friends she made while she was growing up, or through her church community. The family has a sense of joy that she will also be reunited in heaven with her closest lifelong friend, her late friend, Jackie Connolly.
The family that she loved with all of her heart included her late husband, Bud, daughter Connie and her late husband, Troy Burkhalter, daughter Dinah Boggess, son Ben Slover, daughter Amy and her husband George Gerlach. She was so proud of her grandchildren whom she also lovingly adored, Matthew and wife Laura Durrington, Ellen Fraser and husband Brian, Sam Boggess, Adrianna White and husband Jason, Nicholas and wife Krystin, Colton and wife Kaydee, and Sadie Gerlach. She was also blessed with many great grandchildren she loved dearly, Wyatt, Gigi, Caden, Hudson, Bea, Faith Graycie, William, Claire, Maycee & Gavin. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Bob Braidwood and Patricia Brunson, and her mother-in-law whom she absolutely adored and was very much a 2nd mother to her, Eve Slover. Pallbearers will be her loving grandsons Matthew, Sam, Nicholas, Colton, and dear friends of the family, Charlie Bartlett, and Clint Hale. Her heartfelt, thoughtful, caring, ever-present love she always afforded us are gifts we will all carry in our hearts forever.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, April 29, 2022 at Restland Memorial Chapel. Internment Restland Memorial Park. Family to receive friends for visitation from 6-8 PM Thursday, April 28, at Restland Funeral Home.
