My grandmother was a phenomenal woman. She was sophisticated and ambitious. She taught me and my brother to never give up to keep pushing through obstacles with strength. She was a mediator for any emotional turmoil we experienced. A stabilized woman for us when she didn’t have to be. Her love made her want to comfort us, grow us & accept us when we weren’t her responsibility.
The reason I am able to endure the severity of the loss is because she told me not to cry when she went home to glory. She had the Holy Ghost meaning God dwelled in her spirit. She had God’s love within her. I remember times she expressed her love for me and I wasn’t able to feel that way about anyone else. God gave her unconditional love. One thing about her she would light up a room with her SpongeBob laugh a contagious laugh. You didn’t even have to know what the joke was you would just start laughing. I am grateful to be able to be here today to honor her and cherish her existence. She made me not want to go to war with the girl in the mirror. She will always matter to me and I will always love her even on her way to paradise.
