Donna Lynne West's Obituary
Donna Lynne West, age 68, of Fort Worth, Texas, went to meet the Lord on September 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born Donna Hunter on November 3, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas (but would like it to be known that her proper birth name is Donna Pittman.) She passed away at Medical City in Dallas, Texas.
Donna is survived by her children: Telhare’sha, Tiffney and Charley McAdoo IV; her grandchildren: Dijon Surman and Malachi and Zion McAdoo; her great grandchildren: Ashlyn Surman, Zyaire and Zechariah McAdoo; and her siblings: Cynthia Marks, Kenneth Hunter, Sylvia Wilson, Barbara Love, Barry Pittman, Hope Ellis and Byron Howard. Donna also leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Donna built a successful career as sales manager in pre-need burial sales, where she often won recognition for her leadership. She loved people and so sales, naturally, came easy for her. Amongst her proudest accomplishments, however, was her service in the church praying for and counseling people, directing choirs, evangelizing on the street and working at the altar. She believed in God’s deliverance from demonic possession, was often called to cast out devils, and even preached a couple of sermons. She loved singing and ushering in the presence of God; and she loved talking to people about what God requires of us.
Donna was a playwright. She was extremely proud of that. She wrote several plays, including the original script for Diary of a Mad Black Woman. She was a lyricist, a painter and an inventor. She was lovingly called “Maw” and believed there was nothing more important than family. She always emphasized family. She believed that caring for her grandkids was ministry and that unconditional forgiveness was vital for keeping the family together. Donna was, without doubt, the life of the party and loved laughing, spending time with loved ones and talking about God. Family brought her great joy.
Though she was sick for many years, her faith and hope never wavered. She valued truth and freedom and instilled that in her children. She was a firebrand and faithful witness, touching many lives and leading by example. She constantly upheld others, even when she needed strength. She wept but never showed fear. She will be remembered as mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a devil-chasing, death-defying woman of God….until the end. She is part of our testimonies. Her legacy of faith, love, forgiveness, laughter and ministry will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
The Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 2:00pm in the Court of Freedom section of Restland Cemetery.
