Donovan Lance Arwood's Obituary
Donovan Lance Arwood, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 21st in Dallas, Texas. He will always be remembered as a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend and colleague. He was born on December 7, 1973 in Dallas, Texas to Cynthia Diane Teer Kalinec and Eugene W. Arwood Jr. .
Donovan grew up in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1992. He was a member of the 1991-92 district champion Wildcat football team and played offensive and defensive line. He attended the University of North Texas and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in painting and drawing. In 2005, he co-founded badwood inc. with his brother, Bryan. Doing business as badwood digital imaging, the company worked with various ad agencies, marketing departments and Jollytime Popcorn Company producing digital artwork and websites for 20 years.
He had a deep appreciation of art and music and created many paintings, played guitar and liked to write songs and record them. He was very interested in technology and liked to keep up with the latest tech innovations such as artificial intelligence and enjoyed creating 3D models and renderings. His other hobbies included collecting ancient coins, fine watches, fossils and minerals and antique books.
He loved to travel and had many interests such as science, sports cars, architecture and history: especially ancient Rome and western philosophy. He studied philosophy and Chinese history in college and also had an interest in Asian culture which he incorporated into many of his artworks.
He was a deeply caring and empathetic person with a great sense of humor, an energetic personality, larger than life and instantly recognizable. He was fiercely loyal and protective of his close friends and family and made an impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Donovan is survived by his mother and step father Cynthia and Robert Kalinec of Waxahachie, Texas; Father Eugene Arwood of Dallas, Texas; brother Bryan Arwood, sister-in-law Acashia Arwood, nephew Ethan Mitchell and niece Camilla Kacho of Waxahachie, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his great grandparents William M (Pat) and Lillian Teer, great grandfather Berlie Burlison, paternal grandmother Agnes Arwood, maternal grandparents William M. Teer and Ramona Teer and uncle Randall Teer.
The visitation will be held from 1PM - 5PM on Sunday September 28th at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Ave Dallas, TX 75243. The Funeral Service will be held at 12PM Noon on Sunday September 29th at Restland Cemetery/Valley View Park.
