Mrs. Dorcas Hill's Obituary
Dorcas Simmons Hill entered Heaven on Monday, June 19, 2023, at age 86. She was and will always be loved and immensely cherished.
Dorcas was born to Jesse and Eunice Simmons on October 19, 1936, in Dallas, Texas. Following graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold Hill, on August 27, 1955.
She graduated from Texas Women’s University with a bachelor’s degree in education then taught elementary school in the Dallas Independent School District and the Richardson Independent School District.
Dorcas was an active member at Casa View Baptist Church for 65 years. She served in many capacities including women’s ministry and teaching children, primarily first and fourth graders. She was a dedicated prayer warrior and was always eager to share the gospel.
Dorcas was a Godly wife to Harold and mother to Rusty and Dana. She was a true coach’s wife and an avid sports mom and grand mom.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, Blake Hill, Brent Powers, and Drew Powers. She volunteered at their schools and rarely missed any event in which they were involved, from school programs to athletic games. She loved everything that included family, especially vacations and time together at holidays.
Her two great grandsons, Reagan Hill and Hayes Hill, delighted her.
Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Hazel Willingham; stepmother, Bonnie Simmons; and granddaughters, Lauren Hill and Brooke Hill.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Hill; her son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Sandy Hill; her daughter and son-in-law, Dana and David Powers; her grandsons, Blake Hill and his wife Anne, Brent Powers, and Drew Powers; her great grandsons, Reagan Hill and Hayes Hill; her brother, J.B. Simmons; and her sister, Judy Harvey.
Her family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 4-7 pm. There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 2:00 pm. The visitation and memorial service will both be at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243
