Doris Lou Cockrell's Obituary
Doris Lou Cockrell passed away peacefully on March 1, 2023 surrounded by those who loved her in Richardson, TX. She was born on May 5, 1934 in Glendale, CA to Irene and Ralph Hickman. She married Maurice Cockrell on October 6, 1956 and they enjoyed 64 wonderful years together. She moved to Garland, TX in 1975 with her husband and son. She loved anything crafty, such as crocheting, knitting, sewing, quilting, and doing puzzles with her family. She was a member of Kissin’ Kuzzins’ Square and Round Dance Club of Garland, TX from 1985 – 2014. She loved her family, the Lord, and her church. She was a long-time member of Monica Park Christian Church in Garland, TX, where she served as a greeter.
She was preceded in death by her parents Irene and Ralph Hickman; husband Maurice Cockrell; son Derek Cockrell; brother Ralph Hickman, Jr.; and sister Shirley Gutierrez.
Doris is survived by her daughter-in-law Sherri Williams and husband Tim Williams; granddaughters Christi Lyon and Cori Cockrell; grandson-in-law Richard Lyon, Jr.; and great grandsons Dylan Lyon, Robert Lyon, Noah Lyon, Lucas Lyon, Jaxson Adams and Kevin Tillery.
