Mrs. Doris Cole's Obituary
COLE, D. MONA “QUEENIE” SHY was born on July 8, 1936 in Prichard, West Virginia and passed away January 12, 2007 in Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie Gilkerson and Delbert Shy, and two brothers, Joe and Wick Shy. Surviving family members left to celebrate her wonderful life are husband of 31 years, Kenneth Cole; daughter, Jan Adler Macomb and husband Curtis; grandson, Ray Marshall; granddaughter, Amy Macomb; 2 step-daughters, Cathy Cole Bixby and husband Tom and Carol Cole Sullivan, step-son, Kenneth Cole Jr. and wife Paula, and their children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Willa Jean (Vernon) Board, Berdenia (Bert) Finley, Toby (Janice) Shy, Pansy (Frank) Whaley, Olive (Ronnie) Smith, Vernon Dale Shy, and Deb Shy; 2 sisters-in-law, Willa Dean and Lola Gay Shy. “Queenie” also leaves behind a host of nephews and nieces who adored her including Dr. Gregory Shy and Kim Koukos of Dallas and precious friend Mable Ann Jones. Mona was a devout member of the Assembly of God Churches in Carrollton and Sherman, Texas. “Queenie’s” love of her family and zest for living life and praising God are an inspiration to the many people who knew and loved her. She set an example of how to live her life through her nurturing and selflessness. She left us a treasury of memories which will always serve as a blessing from the most wonderful woman anyone could ever know. Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2007 at Restland Memorial Chapel followed by an internment at Restland Memorial Park. I have fought a good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. In the future there is a reward for me, The crown of righteousness. II Timothy: 7-8 A memorial service for Mona will be held at the Centerville Baptist Church in Wayne County, West Virginia, at a later date to be announced.
