Doris V. Fitzgibbon Grammer's Obituary
Doris V. Fitzgibbon Grammer, 90, lifelong resident of Dallas, a dedicated member of White Rock Methodist Church, retired Dallas Independent School District employee, and a January, 1942 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, peacefully passed away at home on December 8, 2014. Doris was born on July 28, 1924, youngest daughter of the late Walter Eugene Fitzgibbon and the late Ellie Eugenia Sawyer Smith. It is important to note that Doris was raised and cared for and influenced and loved by her grandmother, the late Pennie Jane Terry Park, “Grandma Park”. Additionally, the only father that she ever knew was her step-father, the late John C. “Tim” Smith. Doris is predeceased by her husband, Jesse Richard Grammer, her parents, Walter Eugene Fitzgibbon and Ellie Eugenia Sawyer Smith, her step-father, John C, “Tim” Smith, grandmother, Pennie Jane Terry Park, her sisters, Naomi Eugene Fitzgibbon Putnam and Dolores Gay Fitzgibbon, brother-in-law, Robert Lee Putnam, grandson, Jason Michael Olgesby, son-in-law, Michael Ray Oglesby and daughter-in-law, Dianne Louise Sabom Grammer. Doris is survived by daughter, Jeanenne Rae Grammer Oglesby, son, Jerry Richard Grammer, and daughter, Janice Eugene Grammer Walker and her husband Michael Dan Walker. Grandchildren, Daniel Richard Oglesby, Adam Ray Oglesby, and wife, Amy Marie Lodzinski Oglesby, and great grand children, Luke Austin and Katherine Joy; Jonathan Richard Grammer, and wife, Claire Hamker Grammer, and great grandchildren, Jebediah Richard, Grace Louise, and Georgia Geraldine; Christopher William Grammer, and wife, Jennifer Leigh Sullivan Grammer and great grandchild, Walker William; Kari Leigh Walker Simpson and her husband, Brandon Thomas Simpson, and great grandchildren, Ellie Grace, Mary Elise and Hallie Ann; Kevin Michael Walker, and wife, Shanda Jaye Murray Walker, and great grandchildren, Ryan James, and Reid Michael; and Kelli Michelle Walker. The family is grateful for the exceptional care provided by her loving caregiver, Josephine Dove, over the past year. A graveside service for Doris Grammer will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 3:30 PM at Restland Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons Daniel Richard Oglesby, Adam Ray Oglesby, Jonathan Richard Grammer, Christopher William Grammer, Kevin Michael Walker and Brandon Thomas Simpson. “Mothers hold their children’s hands for a little while– their heart’s forever” Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Rock Methodist Church, the Jason Michael Oglesby Memorial Scholarship for Working Students – Lake Highlands Exchange Club, Michael R. Oglesby Memorial Scholarship for Nursing – TAMU – Commerce, or the Dianne and Jerry Grammer Excellence Fund for Mental Health – University of Texas at Austin.
