Doris Jean Jernigan Long's Obituary
LONG, DORIS JEAN JERNIGAN, age 85, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Sunrise of Mount Vernon, Alexandria, VA. She was born on February 24, 1928 in Irving, TX to her parents, Nugent Jernigan and Mary Ida Fitch Jernigan. Doris was a fourth generation Texan. Doris was the youngest of 5 children. She married Billy Gene Long in Dallas, Texas on September 7, 1952. They had 4 children. She attended Sunset High School and graduated in 1945. She was employed for many years by Arco and Sun Oil Company as a keypunch operator and accounting assistant. Doris was a long time member of Lakeside Baptist Church. Her large family, her church community, and travel across the world brought her great joy. Doris will be remembered by her loving children: Gene, Gerald, Gary (Robin), and Ginger (Bob). She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill Long in 1993. Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Restland Abbey Chapel.
