Doris Luelen Keeney's Obituary
Doris Luelen Keeney, 81, passed away March 28. In her final days she was surrounded by her loved ones. There is a sense of peace that follows after a full life lived in devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.Luelen was a remarkable, cherished wife for over 60 years; her loving husband, Bob, passed in the fall of 2016. And for 60 years she was a devoted mother. Her maternal nature reached outside her family and into her local and church communities where she led as a Sunday school teacher and Pioneer Girl’s leader.Amidst a life of service, Luelen pursued vast areas of interest, which grew from passions into a late life career. Through her study of antique pottery she built an international reputation as a Torquay expert. She also successfully managed two high-end collector’s shops in the Dallas metroplex. When relaxing, Luelen shared her passions with her family, teaching others the art of sewing, quilting and music as a self-taught pianist. Her love of the arts and beauty also extended into horticulture and painting. In retirement Luelen and Bob ventured overseas to explore their fascination with British history. Their travels stretched North America, taking them to the mountains of Colorado, up the west coast and throughout Canada.Luelen now breathes easy as she walks the streets of gold. Her life was a joyful testament to the presence of the Holy Spirit in her heart. She is survived by her younger brother, Roger Pursley, 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren who will all cherish her memory and live by her loving example.A grave side service for Luelen will be at 10:30 am Friday, March 30, 2018 at Restland Memorial Park in the Garden of Reflection. Rev. Dan Duncan will officiate.Arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
