Ann was born to parents A.B. Henderson and Anna Booth Henderson April 9, 1925 in Mulberry, Arkansas. Her parents soon relocated to Longview, Texas where she grew up and graduated from Longview Highschool. She then attended and graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. After a whirlwind courtship, she married the late Alexander Macurak September 6, 1948, a marriage she cherished for 33 years before he passed away. During that time, she was the most devoted wife to Alex and mother to their two children Randal B. Macurak M.D. of Addison Texas, and Marcy A. Macurak McDonald of Plano, Texas. Being a housewife was a job she relished but upon her husband’s passing, she rechanneled her energy and became the medical scribe in the office of her son Randal Macurak where she worked tirelessly for the next 35 years. In September 2017 she was awarded by the president of Charlton Methodist Hospital the distinguished award for outstanding service to the Charlton Methodist Hospital System.
Ann is survived by her daughter Marcy Macurak McDonald and husband David McDonald, her son Randal Macurak and Jaime Zahirniak. Her pride and joy were her 7 grandchildren and their families: David McDonald and wife Yulma McDonald, Alexander McDonald and wife Rachel McDonald, Robert McDonald, R. J. Macurak, Randal McDonald and wife Ann McDonald, Philip Macurak, and Anna McDonald. In addition, she leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren: Emily, Ashley, Melanie, Ian, and Micah. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander Macurak, parents A.B. and Anna Henderson, brother Robert Henderson, and grandson Christopher Michael McDonald.
Ann’s memorial service will be held Friday, December 18 at 2:00PM in the Memorial Chapel of Restland Funeral Home. Livestream will be provided for those wishing to participate virtually. Ann had a lifelong compassion for our Native Americans and their plight and frequently expressed their needs to her three grandsons pursuing Christian Ministry. She also regularly enjoyed the arts programs of Park Cities Presbyterian Church Dallas and Basically Beethoven Festival. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions in her name to Mission to the World Native/American, Park Cities Presbyterian Church Arts Series, or Basically Beethoven Festival.
