Doris Marie Poe's Obituary
POE, DORIS MARIE our beloved mother passed from this life on April 1, 2013. Doris was a woman of great strength who loved her faith and family dearly. She was born in Port Neches, Texas on August 21, 1930 to Carl Franklin Bryant and Hattie Mae Woodrom. She was a graduate of Adamson High School in Oak Cliff, Texas. She and her husband, Edgar, reared three daughters and loved being extremely active in their church, neighborhood and school activities. Doris was a top listing agent in the North Dallas office of Henry S. Miller Realtors and later joined the new office of Virginia Cook Realtors. She always combined her professional schedule with community service. She served as president of numerous organizations including Wednesday Forum, American Business Women’s Association, Canterbury Review Club and as chair of the Trustees of Cochran Chapel United Methodist Church. She also served the Greater Dallas Association of Realtors in numerous capacities and was Vice President of Dallas Women’s Council of Realtors. She is survived by her daughters Susan Poe Doell and her husband, Tom, Stacy Poe Perley and her husband, Mike and Sandra Poe Gerhart and her husband, George. She is also survived by a niece, Andi Allen and grandchildren Stephanie Doell Peterson and her husband, Scott, Melanie Doell, Melissa Perley Land and her husband, Curtis, Christopher Perley, Laura Perley, Spencer Gerhart and her great-grandson, Wyatt Edgar Peterson. Services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue with burial immediately following. There will be a visitation on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Donations to the SPCA of Texas in her memory will be cherished.
