Doris W. Meshier's Obituary
Doris Meshier was born October 31, 1925 in Fort Worth, Texas. She died August 25th, 2015 in Plano, Texas at the age of 89 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Meshier Capt. USN Ret.; by her parents, Thomas Cook and Lela Cook; and by her brother, Thomas Cook Jr. A graduate of Corpus Christi High School, Doris was widowed after a brief wartime marriage. She subsequently married Charles Meshier, a career Naval officer, in 1946 and they embarked on a military life. Doris was a superb military wife, and raised three children as they traveled the globe. After her husband’s retirement from the Navy, they returned to Texas, where Doris lived the last 48 years of her life. Widowed a second time in 1988, she focused on her multiple interests including reading, bridge, current events, and travel. She was cared for in old age by her devoted daughter Lee Ann in Murphy, Texas. Doris was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Dr. William Meshier and wife Nancy of Snowflake, Arizona, Dr. Lisa Sinsheimer and husband Alan of New York, New York, and Lee Ann Meshier of Plano, Texas; and by her grandchildren, Brent Meshier and wife Wallis, Caroline Braslow and husband Steve, Matthew Sinsheimer and fiancé Tommy Wesely, Cameron Sinsheimer, and Katherine Sinsheimer. She is also survived by her siblings, Candy Mayes of Corpus Christi, Texas and Zale Cook and wife Babs of San Antonio, Texas, by their families, and by the family of her late brother Thomas. Graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in I Washington, DC at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the charity of your choice.
