Doris Perry's Obituary
Doris Dean Perry, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep December 27, 2024, in Rockwall, Texas.
Born March 20, 1930, in Vernon, Texas
Doris is preceded in death by her father Wilburn Chisholm Probst, her mother Ruby Lee Probst and her husband of 72 years Lee Perry.
Survivors include:
Children Roger Perry and wife Virginia, Dennis Perry and wife Susan, Jan Perry Loyd and husband Stephen.
Grandchildren Brett Perry and wife Randi, Clint Perry and Dixie Simmons Miller, Ginger Knell and husband Craig, Chase Perry and wife Lauren.
Great grandchildren, Kennedy, Cannon, Madison, Lily, Oliver, Ellie, Jack, Emma, Elyse, Great great granddaughter Stevie.
Doris attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock until Lee wisked her off to marry. They lived in Iowa Park, Texas moving to Mesquite, Texas in 1968.
Doris spent 15 years working at Wichita Falls State Hospital and 35 years as Activities Director at Terrell State Hospital.
Doris was a lifelong Baptist with a strong faith and love for Jesus. She and Lee traveled on many mission trips around the world, spreading The Word, helping others and making lifelong friends.
She loved to travel, some of her favorite places being Las Vegas, Branson, Colorado, Hawaii and attending Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Doris & Lee traveled together and remained close with a dear group of Friends since high school.
She loved NASCAR and they each had their favorite drivers, attending races in person at the track or watching from home.
Doris loved playing cards and Domino’s, being the ring leader for organizing groups to play where she lived at Liberty Heights in Rockwall.
She really loved the good friends she made there.
She was a voracious reader and enjoyed organizing skits for various groups that she participated in. She loved going to movies and plays and shopping was one of her favorite pastimes.
Doris always had a smile on her face and welcomed everyone with an amazing blend of encouragement, generosity, inspiration and above all positivity, seeing the best in everyone and everything.
She always looked on the bright side of life. If you wanted something done, just tell Doris, she will find a way.
She will forever remain in our hearts and our memories with love and a smile.
