Doris Lashunne Rogers Brown's Obituary
Doris was born on May 30, 1959 in Decatur, Wise County, Texas. She received her education in Denton ISD. She was a natural born athlete who excelled in track and softball. Doris was commonly referred to as Peanut or P-Nut. In fact, some friends and family never even knew her birth name. God created a masterpiece in Doris. She loved hard. She loved God, her family, the bible, good music and her holy dance. She left a lasting impression with each and every life she touched. She was truly unforgettable. She loved living life and lived it to the absolute fullest. Doris was hilariously funny without effort and was known for telling it like it is.She was employed at Denton State School and as a caregiver to the elderly, which was perhaps her favorite occupation, due to her gentle touch, ability to comfort and her fierce strength. She also worked as a manager at Church’s Chicken in Waco, Texas and LaFonda Restauarant in LaFayette, Louisiana. She was also a master chef in the kitchen who cooked with love and grace. She derived great joy from watching people enjoy her delicious culinary creations. Amazingly, she developed these culinary skills without helping in the kitchen as a child. Later in life, she earned her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and traveled across the country as a trucker. She is preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Lee Brown Mornes, father, Louis Daniel Rogers, maternal grandparents, Tebora Lee Hurd, Thomas Dean Hurd, and Luther Brown, Sr., paternal grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa, as well as a host of other relatives who have gone on to glory. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Brown. She leaves behind her only daughter, Amelia Mornes-Njoku (and husband Prince Njoku), to mourn her and celebrate her life and legacy. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Austen, Andrew, Anaya and Tre, her twin sister, Deloris Lyvonne Walter, her siblings, Leonard Charles Mornes, Janice Silmon, Stephanie Mornes, Willie Mornes, Ann Rogers-Brandon, Pam Rogers, Joyce Rogers, Stephanie Rogers, L.D. Rogers, Jr., Jimmy Rogers, and Lonzo Govan-Rogers. She is also survived by her stepparents, Willie and Willene Mornes, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, with whom she shared special relationships. The family extends our sincerest thanks and gratitude to all that extended their condolences and support during this difficult time.
