Doris Demoruelle Smith's Obituary
Smith, Doris Demoruelle Age 91. Feb. 6, 1924 – Nov. 23, 2015. Doris Smith passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015, after a lengthy illness. A native of New Orleans, a business school graduate and devoted wife and mother, Doris was an active garden-clubber, traveler and restaurant-goer. She moved to Burnsville in 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernhard Theodore “Ted” Smith, and her daughter, Lesley Smith Foster. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Carroll and Karen’s children, Mark Traina and Shelly Brescher, (Curtis Brescher and daughters Claire and Camille), and her son, Gary Smith, his wife, Jill and their daughters, Emily and Sarah Smith. Doris is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, including Eddie Johnson, (Kathy and daughters Stephanie, Laura and Amy), Gladys Johnson, Tom Engert (son Tyler), David Engert, (Kim and son Michael), Laurie Engert Shirer, (Peter and daughter Kelly), and R. Scott Smith, (Gloria and son Alex). In memorial, please remember these institutions that were dear to Doris’ heart: Mary Mother of the Church (mmotc.org) and Fairview Hospice Fund (fairview.org/ foundation). Doris’ funeral and a short visitation will be held at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 beginning at 2:30 PM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
