Doris Rose Sosebee's Obituary
Doris Sosebee, 90, of Richardson, Texas entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, December 10, 2025. She passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.
Doris was born to parents Allen and Ovie Boozer January 24, 1935, in the farming community of Omaha, Texas. She grew up attending Concord Missionary Baptist Church and became a Christian as a teen. She graduated top of her class from Paul H. Pewitt High School. She moved from Omaha to pursue a business degree at Draughon's Business College in Dallas. Doris spent her early career in the accounting field with the Internal Revenue Service in Dallas, Austin, Shreveport, and again in Dallas. Doris married Jack Sosebee in 1957, they moved to Richardson in 1962 and became members of First Baptist Church of Richardson in 1963. Doris and Jack went on to be very active in the business community with various businesses she and Jack developed. The most prominent businesses were Richardson Trophies, Inc., Ad Link Group, Inc., and property management - all conducted in the historic part of downtown Richardson. Doris and Jack were also very involved in the civic affairs of Richardson via the Jaycees/Jayceettes. Doris was honored with the planting of tree #55 in the Richardson Grove in honor of her long time Richardson business and civic activities.
Doris family was very important to her. Both of her children were adopted as infants, Allen in 1967 and Marcy in 1969. Doris was a devoted wife to Jack until his sudden death in 1995. She remained active in the businesses they developed until the closing of all except for the property management which she was involved in as late as 2016. Being a mother and grandmother brought her the most joy and she had the blessing of being close to Allen in work life and living in the same neighborhood. Marcy married her other "son", Matt in 1995 and their children Madison and Matthew made Doris a Grand Mommy. She treasured her time with all of her family. She loved fellowship, dinner and traveling with friends, getaways to Lake Texoma, gardening, butterflies, and birds. In her travels out of state she was always excited to share that she was from Texas. She loved bluebonnets, "The Great State Fair of Texas", yellow roses, mockingbirds, pecans.....all things Texas!
Some of Doris' philosophies and beliefs in addition to her salvation in Christ, "Service to humanity is the best work in life."; "Success is spelled H A R D W O R K"; and "Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, you can achieve."
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Ovie Boozer and her husband, Jack Sosebee. She is survived by her son, Allen Sosebee, daughter Marcy O'Malley and her husband Matt along with her cherished grandchildren Madison (husband Jack Card) and Matthew. She leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law Wendell and Vicki Boozer, nieces Lauree Tyson, Amy McCollum, Lisa Gardner, and nephew Stuart Boozer and their families.
Doris' Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, December 22, 2025, 2:00pm at First Baptist Church of Richardson at 1001 N Central Expy, Richardson, Tx 75080.
