Doris Ann Tinker's Obituary
Doris Ann Tinker of Richardson, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the age of 92.
She was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on May 24, 1933, to Jimmy and Lorena Rees. Doris had a strong sense that she could do pretty much anything she put her mind to and was multi-talented. She was an artist, played the piano, and being very creative, she could make just about anything out of random items from her garage. Nothing was ever simple and plain but always done with a creative flair. She could organize and manage huge events, was an editor, and had a mind for people which allowed her to remember contact information and details of most Texas Baptist leadership, pastors, and staff.
Doris had a deep faith in Christ, and she worked tirelessly in Christian life and service. She served as pastor’s secretary for over 10 years at the First Baptist Church of Richardson, and for almost thirty years as the Executive Associate with the Executive Director for the Baptist General Convention of Texas. After “retiring,” Doris worked for over twenty-five years as the Director of Communication and Organization in the Texas Baptist Heritage Center as part of the work of the Executive Director Emeritus office.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jimmy and Lorena; her brother Buddy Rees and sister-in-law Faye Rees; and her husband of nearly 65 years, B. W. Tinker.
She is survived by her son Greg Tinker and daughter-in-law Jennifer Tinker, granddaughter Stephanie Beazley, grandson-in-law Aaron Beazley, grandson Skyler Tinker, and granddaughter-in-law Brittany Tinker, her great-grandchildren Jude Beazley, Esme Tinker, and Callan Tinker, and her numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She will be greatly missed, and we all look forward to the grand reunion in heaven.
There will be a private graveside service in December and Memorial service toward the end of January 2026 with the date still to be determined.
