Doris Wilkinson's Obituary
On Tuesday, April 29, 2020, at the age of 91, Doris Wilkinson went to her heavenly home after complications from a hip fracture. She was born in Mineral Wells, Texas to Stanley B. and Verlie L. Walker. After high school graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Wilkinson, who preceded her in death in 2019. Together, they raised two daughters, Pam Beaty and Trina Johnson.
Doris was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great, great-grandmother. She loved her family with a passion. Her youngest great-great grandchild was born on her birthday in 2019.
Doris had a servant heart; loving to volunteer at church throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the church of Christ, attending North Pointe church of Christ the last years of her life. She was involved in the PTA when her daughters were in school, serving in various offices. She was a seamstress throughout her life. She used her skill to make apparel for family and herself, as well as items for the less fortunate with church programs. Doris loved to cook. She and Robert hosted many family celebrations at their home where she would prepare the food and serve the family. It was a joy to her. Her independence was important to her up until her last days.
Doris and Robert were avid travelers and were members of the Rambling Sams RV Club for over 30+ years creating many memories with lifelong friends. She loved traveling all over the United States and Canada upon their retirement.
Doris worked as a secretary in mainly the insurance and real estate industry. In the 1970’s, she and Robert owned Metro Appraisal firm in the Dallas area until their retirement.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Vernon Walker.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Pam Beaty and Trina Johnson (Rich). Nine grandchildren, Dawn Stevens (David), Robert Beaty (Mashonie), Michelle Campbell (Kenny), Katie Anson, Natasha Cadenhead (Chris), Carole Brooks (James), Brandon Beaty, Courtney Smith (Nathan) and Dani Beaty. Twenty-two great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 3rd at Restland Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral and internment will be for family only.
