Dorotha "Dottie" Lucille Harper's Obituary
Dorotha Lucille Harper, known to most as “Dottie,” passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, September 16, 2018, in Garland, Texas. She celebrated 95 years on this Earth.Dorotha “Dottie” Lucille (Spurgin) Harper was born on September 1, 1923 in Wylie, Texas to Bessel and Lexia (Chappell) Spurgin. She married Mr. Earl Harper on January 8, 1943 in Durant, Oklahoma. Dottie was a member of the First Christian Church of Garland, where she and Earl raised their three children. She was very proud of the fact that her family membership included five generations. Dottie was also an office manager for Harper Maintenance Service Inc. for 19 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Harper.Survivors include her daughter, Leanne Harper of Thomas, Oklahoma; sons: Nick Harper, M.D., of Boise, Idaho and Paul Harper of Sachse, Texas; brother, Eddie Spurgin of Azle, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.A service for Dottie Harper will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 21, 2018 at First Christian Church of Garland; 115 S. Glenbrook Dr. Garland, Texas 75040. Visitation will be observed one hour prior to service, also at First Christian Church of Garland. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.
