Dorothea Auguste Taschner's Obituary
Taschner, Dorothea Auguste was born on September 19, 1928 in Berlin, Germany and passed away on August 20, 2012 in Plano, TX with her daughter, Barbara Davies and her son, Helmut Taschner by her side. As a wife, mother, friend, she was a person with many occupations: youngest Red Cross Nurse in World War II, Kindergarten teacher, Pediatric Nurse, Breakfast Mgr at Burger King, Volunteer at the Plano Hospitals and of course her favorite sport of Table Tennis.She enjoyed table tennis most of her life and was well known here in the United States as well as in Europe. She has participated in many of Senior Olympic Games for several years but was active in the Table Tennis Circuit with her daughter, Barbara, for decades prior the Senior Olympics.Those of you who knew her will remember her uplifting spirit and knew her as Omi (grandma in German). She is survived by her son Helmut Taschner Sr. and wife Pauline, daughter Barbara Davies, grandchildren and spouses: Helmut Taschner Jr. and wife Karla, Kristina Knous and husband Eric, and Erika Copeland and husband Aaron. She is also survived by one great-grandchild, Noel Taschner. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, at 12:30 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland.
