Dorothy Ann Ingram's Obituary
This precious mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor died March 17, 2017, after a long battle with emphysema. Truly indescribable, she’ll be remembered as gentle, graceful, loving and especially beautiful, inside and out. Born on August 22, 1935, Dorothy Ann was a 1953 graduate of Highland Park High School. She earned a BA in Business Administration from SMU, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was also the first freshman ever chosen as a Rotunda Beauty at SMU. Dorothy Ann married Wade Temple Ingram on August 4, 1956, and they lived briefly in Houston and Lubbock. They raised their family in Terrell, Texas until 1972, when they moved to Dallas. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by family and friends. Not only a loving wife and mother, she was an involved and proud grandmother. She adored her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Mimi.” A witty writer and adept master of the technology known as Facebook, she enjoyed chronicling about her precious canine companion, Charlie. Dorothy Ann was a loyal and kind friend who loved her lifelong friendships. One friend said, “She didn’t have a mean bone in her body. She was the closest thing to a real angel.” Her warm, thoughtful and funny nature won the love of all who knew her. Dorothy Ann was involved in Youth Believing in Change and Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, both dear to her heart. She also enjoyed her lunch group and her bridge group. A former administrative assistant in SMU’s Undergraduate Admissions Department, Dorothy Ann was also the Executive Assistant to Bill Lively, former SMU Dean of the Meadows School of the Arts. She also worked for Westwind Properties and Encore Homes. Dorothy Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Henry Leake Rice and Eleanor Davis Rice, and her beloved husband Wade Temple Ingram. Dorothy Ann is survived by her brother, Captain Henry Leake Rice, Jr., United States Navy, of Houston; daughters Diana Ingram Miller and husband Michael Anthony Miller, Deborah Ingram Venz and husband Danny Venz; grandchildren Christina Eleanor Miller, Michael Anthony Miller, Jr. and Amanda Miller Leonard and husband John Marvin Leonard, and her beloved BBF (Best Barking Friend) Charlie, all of Dallas. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 at Restland Memorial Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, 75243. Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 23, in Highland Park United Methodist Church’s sanctuary, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas 75205. The family would like to thank Faith Presbyterian Hospice for its loving care – especially Lee Poole, Melanie Hoffman and Keisha Tillmon. Memorials may be made to Youth Believing in Change, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, or the charity of your choice.
