Dorothy Ann Vaughan died March 17, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. Dorothy Ann Vaughan was born October 19, 1919, in Wilkinsburg, PA while her father, a 1915 graduate of Texas A&M in electrical engineering was helping to establish KDKA, the first radio station in the US.She had two sisters: Eleanor and Louise, both born in Wilkinsburg. Dorothy spent a happy adolescence in Texas on an island at the Trinidad generating plant. She attended TWU, but her beau, William Vaughan, tired of driving to Denton and back and they were married on February 17, 1939, at Munger Place Methodist in Dallas. The marriage lasted for 70 years until his death in 2009. After Pearl Harbor, William joined the Navy and Dorothy Ann went with him to Washington DC and worked for the Treasury Department.During the time William was in the veterans hospital in McKinney, following the Second World War, Dorothy began a catering business that thrived for over 50 years.Their son, Robert, with Glenys Quick, had two daughters Tala and Adoette of whom Dorothy was extremely fond and proud. During the last three years Alem Goshu, Gloria Brown, Erika Hardy, Katrina Floyd and Renee St Clair provided friendship and care. Thanks also go Christy Williams for her long friendship.
