Dorothy I. Baker's Obituary
BAKER, DOROTHY I. Of Dallas, Texas passed away at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital on January 12, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Truman Baker, daughter Candy Gombert and husband Gary of Dallas, and a son, Randy Baker and his wife Ellen of Plano. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Reed, Lindsay, Abigail, and Whitney Gombert, Cara Lee West and husband Jeremy, and Braden and Carrie Baker. Dorothy is also survived by three sisters: Juanita Hoelowyn, Anne Crosland and husband Herman, and Charlene Johnson and husband Wayne, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born to Charles and Jovita Barnes on February 13, 1923 in Damon, Texas. After graduating from Damon High School, she attended the American Business Institute in Houston. She worked as a secretary for the Southwest Church of Christ in Houston, Austin Co., Oilwell Supply, and for the rest of her career at Union Carbide. She retired from Union Carbide in 1985 after 20 years of service. Dorothy was a long-time member of Waterview Church of Christ in Richardson. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 16 from 3-5 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas. TX 75243. A memorial service will be Sunday January 17 at 3:30 p.m. at Waterview Church of Christ, 1409 N. Waterview Dr., Richardson, TX 75080. The family would like to thank all the dear friends who have supported them during this difficult time.
