Dorothy Faye Cook's Obituary
Dororthy “Dottie” Cook of Richardson, TX passed away April 28, 2010. Daughter of C.Hansford and Maude Ray, Dottie was born in McKinney, TX on December 9, 1924. She grew up in this small traditional town where everyone was your friend. She graduated from McKinney High School, where she was a majorette with the Stewart Jernagin Marching Band. She married Roy Cook, her high school sweetheart (and handsome varsity football and baseball player) immediately following World War II. After graduation, she attended North Texas State University, where she was a member of the Delta Chi Delta sorority. She also performed in the Saturday Night Stage Show as a tap dancer. Dottie & Roy moved to the Dallas area shortly after their only son Michael was born. She was a loving & devoted mother and wife. Dottie was also active in the DAR, the North Dallas Area Women’s Club, and local garden clubs. She is survived by son Mike Cook and wife Janice Conn, grandson Mitch and wife Amy, grandson Monty and wife Laura Houston, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dottie’s angels on this earth included Jean DeFord and Anne and Ed Lucas, to whom the family is forever indebted for their copious and unconditional love and support to prepare her for journey to the loving hands of the Lord. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday the 29th at Restland Funeral Home, and funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday at Restland’s Memorial Chapel.
