Dorothy Elizabeth "Dot" Barnett's Obituary
BARNETT, DOROTHY “DOT” ELIZABETH, 87, passed away peacefully January 5, 2011 after a brief illness. Born on July 16, 1923 in Dallas, Dot resided here most of her life. She was preceded by her husband, Albert Luther “Jack” Barnett; her parents, Bruce and Elizabeth Clardy; and her brother, Robert Clardy. Dot graduated from Highland Park High School, attended Lyndenwood College in Missouri and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. Dot was active in the community and in her children’s activities, serving as PTA president and on numerous charity boards. She was part of the founding families of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She was a fun-loving person who was a sports fanatic and avid bridge and poker player. Dot was a winner until the last game. Dot was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and is survived by her three children, Steve Barnett and wife Candice Chandler, Mike Barnett and wife Susie, and Barbara Barnett Stevenson; and by her five grandchildren, Collin Stevenson and wife Angie and daughter Marlo, Katie Stevenson, Bryan Barnett, Megan Barnett Filgo and husband Jonathan and son Royal, and Michael Barnett and wife Jessica. She was loved by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at Restland Wildwood Chapel on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas or to Camp Grady Spruce YMCA.
