Dorothy Jean Duff's Obituary
Bob and Dorothy Duff walked hand in hand through Heaven’s Gates on Friday November 12, 2021, due to a single car accident. They were on yet another road trip to visit family and celebrate a new addition. The family, along with many friends and loved ones will miss them greatly. Bob (78) and Dorothy (76) had an unusual love story of writing letters for years, spending a short time together, then embarking on a life of joy, tears, travel, friends, and love. Throughout their 21 years in the Air Force, Bob served where and when asked. Dorothy made a safe and loving home for Lori, Robert, and Jeni. At a young age in a far-away country, Dorothy learned the value of true friendship lending and accepting a helping hand. Many of their neighbors and co-workers since have been impacted by this strong value.
After retiring Honorably from the military, they settled near Dorothy’s hometown of Mesquite near her parents. Bob continued his vocation for public service by spending the next 18 years with the Dallas County Sherriff Department as a Jailer and Deputy. Lori and Robert began their own adult lives of marriage, children and travel as Jeni completed school and soon followed.
The Duff legacy include the three children, Lori, Robert Jr, and Jeni; 9 Grandchildren; 14 Great grandchildren and so many friends who looked to them in a parental light. The love of those in their lives was true, honest, and limitless. If you needed a family Dorothy and Bob would be that for you. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support- so many of you are suffering as much as we are. It must be said the Bob and Dorothy were people of faith, both having given their lives and hearts to God, whom they loved. Christ is their personal savior, and while we here are heartbroken over this event, we also know that they are with God, He is in control, and God is good all the time.
