Dearest Aunt Dolly,
When I joined the family in the 60s, after my dad married Jenny, I was taken in with open arms and hearts…and was taught to play canasta. I didn’t get to spend much time with my new aunt, uncle and cousins, but the love and warmth and normalcy that came with those visits helped me cope with the instabilities that come when parents divorce. You always treated me as you did your own, with the same love, expectations and discipline. I’m sure I never told you what that meant because I really didn’t understand it until I was an adult. So now, we say goodbye, and even though I’m not there this day, you will always be with me, living in that smiling place in my heart. I love you, Aunt Dolly…always have, always will. Carolyn
