Dorothy Marie Dvorocsik, 84, of Coppell, TX, formerly of Myerstown, PA and Kingston, NY, died Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Dorothy was born June 19, 1941, in Rose Creek, Minnesota to the late Jacob and Eleanor (Fruth) Majerus. She married Michael Joseph Dvorocsik on July 23, 1966. He preceded her in death on August 24, 2019. She was also predeceased by sisters: Sr. Arlene Majerus and Elaine Kloeckner; and brother Nicholas Majerus.
Dorothy graduated from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN with a bachelor’s degree in Physics – the first Physics major in the history of her college. She served in Washington, D.C. as a congressional intern to Albert “Al” Quie, a distinguished member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota who later became Governor of his home state.
She earned a master’s degree in Special Education from The State University of New York at New Paltz. She was a Science and Special Education teacher for many years, working to uplift many of the most behaviorally challenged students who were very often overlooked.
Dorothy enjoyed puzzles, cards, and board games. She was also an expert quilter, winning many ribbons for her hand-quilted creations. She was most importantly an ardent supporter of her children and grandchildren’s musical and sporting activities.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Andrew (Madeline) Dvorocsik, Susan Dvorocsik, and Gregory (Melissa) Dvorocsik; four grandchildren, Gregory, Theresa, Peter, and Hannah; brothers Arnold (Ilene) Majerus, Ralph (Barbara) Majerus, and James (Susan) Majerus; and many nieces and nephews.
Services to be private with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, New York at the convenience of her family.
