Dorothy Fay Cox's Obituary
COX, DOROTHY FAY LAUGHON passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008. She was born March 22, 1922 in Deer Creek, TX to Isham Valentine and Rosa Lee Waggoner Laughon. They moved to Joy, TX when Dorothy was 3 years of age. Dorothy married Leonard Edward Cox in 1945. She and Leonard had 2 children. Dorothy graduated from Joy High School and was awarded a Baccalaureate Degree in Nutrition from Texas State College for Women in 1943 and a Master’s Degree from SMU in 1974. Dorothy worked as a hospital dietitian in Houston and later at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas. She spent 24 years in the Dallas Independent School System’s Food Service Department. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Leonard Edward Cox and 6 siblings. Dorothy is survived by son, Charles Leonard (wife Dorothy Jean Moore Cox); daughter, Marilyn Rae (husband Terry Carl Aldridge); grandsons, James Edward (wife Michelle), Stephen Paul, Brian Charles; and one beautiful great grandson, Blaine Edward. She is also survived by siblings, Opal Seigler, Edd Laughon, Ray Laughon (wife Dorotha); sisters-in-law, Mildred (Doyle) Dixon, Catherine (Odis) Simons; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy enjoyed her family, her church, working on crafts and playing cards. We love you and will miss you. Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 1pm on Friday, March 28, 2008 at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, 10066 Marsh Lane, Dallas, TX 75229. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Walnut Hill United Methodist Church.
