Dorothy Johanna Ferguson Holden's Obituary
Holden, Dorothy Johanna Ferguson ~ Born 2/15/20 in Brooklyn, New York to Jennie Scherpenisse and Alexander Ferguson. She married Cornelius Frederick Holden (dec. 8/23/85) , January 30, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY. Her brothers, John and Edward Ferguson preceed her in death. She lived many years in Paterson, New Jersey, Orlando, Florida, and Denton, Texas. Dorothy was an avid swimmer, loved walking and exercising with her friends. She performed with the “Entertainers” a song and dance group of Orlando, and won numerous awards for swimming and fitness. She was a member of First Baptist Church Orlando, Florida. and First Baptist Church Denton, Texas. Donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. She will be greatly missed by Frederick William Holden (son) of Glen Rock, NJ and Dorothy Jean (Holden) Mathes (daughter) of Denton, Texas, Carl Ferguson (nephew) of Kemp, Texas, seven grandchildren: Joshua, Rachel Holden, Sarah (Holden) Mullin, Christy (Mathes) Bennett, Carl, Chuck and Chad Mathes, fourteen great-grandchildren, four grand-nieces, one grand-nephew, and many friends and caregivers. A memorial service will be held February 14, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Denton Rehab and Nursing Center, Denton, Texas. Interment will be at a later date at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando Florida.
