Dorothy Murry Harper of Kaufman, Texas and formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away on July 20, 2018, at the age of 94.Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 12:30 p.m., at the Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 4:00 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Mabank.Dorothy was born on July 6, 1924, in Dallas Texas. She was the youngest child of Robert Eugene Murry and Willie Dee Murry. She married James Harper, her late husband of 63 years, on September 12, 1942, in Rockwall, Texas. Dorothy began her professional career as a buyer in the children’s department at Neiman Marcus in Dallas. She later worked as a supervisor at the Zurich Insurance Company in Dallas until retirement. Throughout Dorothy’s long and happy life, she was always known for her keen intelligence, exceptional wit and deep love for her husband James.Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James Harper, her sister Eliza “Jane” Cash, brother Robert Murry, nephew Robert Murry, Jr., and niece Nita Murry Dotson.She is survived by her nephew Phillip Murry and his wife Connie, nieces Gwenn Murry, Karen Mahoney, and Sharla Riddle, and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by friends Mike and Dian Waters, Claudett Garza, Amanda Allen, and others who have shown love and cared for her.
