Dorothy Jones' Obituary
Dorothy passed away Feb. 26, 2019 in Sachse, TX. She was born on Aug. 17, 1927 in Enid, OK to Clyde and Vida Chase. Dorothy was raised in Tonkawa and went on to graduate from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelors of Science in Education. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and later taught in Port Arthur and San Antonio. She married Robert L Jones on August 1, 1950 and moved to Dallas in 1959. She was a proud Cub Scout Den Mothers for 2 boys for 4 years. She was a member of the Woodland Garden Club for more than 50 years where she was a 3 term president. Besides loving to sew and decorate, Dorothy also volunteered 30 years at the Arboretum as a docent in the DeGolyer House. She was a life long Methodist Church member and served on the board of the United Methodist Women’s group and also served as a Circle Leader. Dorothy guided travel tours for Dan Dipert Travel in the US, Canada, and Europe for 10 years. When Bob retired they continued to travel Europe and the United States. Dorothy is preceded in death by both her parents, her loving husband Robert “Bob”, and her brother Howard. She is survived her sons Randy and his wife Karla and Kent and his wife Vicki; grandchildren Lauren, Bethany, Travis, Garrett, and great grandson, Parker. Committal service will be held Sat. March 9, 2019 at 10:30am at Restland Memorial Park with a Memorial Service at 2pm at the chapel at C.C.
