She married Gerald Gustafson in 1946 and moved to Dallas, TX, where they later divorced. She worked as a secretary for many years, which is how she met the love of her life, Dallas Francis Jordan, a Rear Admiral in the U.S. Naval Reserves. The two married on New Year’s Eve, 1962 and they shared 28 happy years until his death in 1991. Dorothy was known for her creativity, intelligence, and wit. She is survived by her daughter Kaye Griffith; granddaughter Diana Chaban Griffith, her wife Kim, and their three children, Stuart, Andrew, and Matthew; her nephew Richard Skidmore; and several great nephews and nieces. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 8787 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX, with a reception following. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Restland Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of Dorothy’s favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, at www.stjude.org/give. Arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243
